Cantilevered Bridge Replacing Bicuspid

November, 2004.

November, 2005.
Porcelain-on-metal bridge with crowns on 2.5 & 2.6, by Talisman Dental Laboratory Tooth 2.4 was extracted. 2.5 & 2.6 have large silver amalgam fillings. Both teeth could benefit from crowns, as stronger, more aesthetic restorations.
The opportunity was here to attach pontic 2.4 (false tooth) to splinted crowns.

This made the cutting of healthy tooth 2.3 unnecessary. Usually a false tooth for 2.4 would be supported by 2.5 and 2.3, but here we used 2.6 instead of 2.3.
Soft tissue has healed at 2.4 extraction site.
Note large silver fillings in 2.5 & 2.6.

Before Bridge
After Bridge
Teeth 2.5 & 2.6 have been reduced & shaped to receive bridge. Space is provided for thickness of metal & porcelain.
Patient is very pleased with the result.
She is happy to smile without a missing tooth.

Bridge is seated without cement to check fit.
Bridge is attached to teeth with resin cement.

Above the right lateral incisor, 1.2, there is a bump on the gum. Treatment will be done here soon. The nerve in 1.2 is dead. There is infection in the bone around the end of the root.
