Eight Gold Crowns, Three Porcelain Crowns and
One Porcelain on Metal Crown
|
"For many years our family members were patients
of Dr. Perlmutter and were always very satisfied with his care
of our teeth. He is a very professional dentist with excellent
technical skills and he keeps current with the latest techniques.
I have heard of other dentists praising his work. Before we
left Bramalea, he put in 8 crowns which are doing well and have
caused me no problems at all.
We were all very lucky to have had Dr. Perlmutter as our dentist."

Patient now has a clean, comfortable, healthy mouth, with
a variety of restorations. Eight molars have cast gold crowns.
Porcelain-on-metal crown (see yellow arrow) is on one bicuspid.
Empress porcelain crowns (see thin, white arrows) are on three
bicuspids. Tooth-coloured composite resin restorations are
on several teeth. Silver amalgam restorations are present
in 3 bicuspids, still serving these teeth well.

Dr. Perlmutter Comments: I have never seen cast gold
crowns break. They are the strongest restorations for these
back teeth that take the greatest force. They are far enough
back that the patient was not concerned about appearance.
The best appearance is with the porcelain crowns, which are
stronger than the tooth-coloured composite resin restorations.
Although I stopped placing new silver amalgam restorations
many years ago, many of the older ones are still serving the
teeth well. I do not recommend their removal unless I see
evidence of problems.
